After a tumultuous month involving star Cristiano Ronaldo and his club, Manchester City, the club and the striker have parted ways. It comes after Ronaldo did an incendiary interview with British media personality Piers Morgan in which he threw the club under the bus.

The forward, considered one of the greatest players ever, was seen with a watch with a picture of his famous Champions League goal for Real Madrid against United. That may have contributed to the timing

This is akin to if the Patriots ever released Tom Brady. It’s huge news around the world, and seemingly everyone has an opinion on it.

Many Manchester United Fans are thankful for Ronaldo’s two stints at the club. But, they recognize it was time to move on. He started for the club as a youngster before moving to Real Madrid on a record transfer in 2009.

Unfortunately the 2nd stint was just not as good as the first. United has struggled as a club since legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson retired after the 2012-2013 season.

Manchester United legend and Ronaldo’s former teammate Rio Ferdinand thought this was the best move for all involved.

It remains to be seen if and where CR7 will next play club football. He is currently focused on leading Portugal to their first-ever World Cup triumph.
