The Seattle Seahawks have the most interesting quarterback battle. Neither Geno Smith nor Drew Lock seems to be an intriguing option. Due to that, it might be a rough season in the Pacific Northwest.

Will it be Geno Smith, who started a few games for Seattle last season when Russell Wilson was injured? Or will it be Drew Lock, who has been up and down since coming into the NFL?

Nobody knows, but Pete Carroll gave some recent comments that might help Lock’s chances of being the starter (h/t Gregg Bell of The News Tribune).

I’m surprised at some stuff that Drew does. His movement. His natural ability. His ability to move and throw the ball with his feet in awkward positions at times to get the ball out, his quickness of release. I saw that stuff, but until I saw the person, I didn’t know. He’s really talented. He has a lot of skills, man, and the game is easy for him in that sense.”

Lock had a world of talent in college but was never able to translate that too much success with the Denver Broncos. Now, a change of scenery might help him a lot, and he has talented weapons with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in town.

The question is, can Drew Lock become a starter for the entire season? At this point, there is no indication. However, the fact he is surprising his head coach is an encouraging sign.
