Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss are on a roll in 2022 with former USC quarterback Jaxson Dart leading the Rebels to an 8-1 start. The team is currently ranked #11 in the College Football Playoff rankings after a narrow win over Texas A&M.
The Rebels will have an opportunity to break into the top 10 on Saturday with a victory over No. 9 ranked Alabama. Nick Saban and Heisman-winner Bryce Young won’t make it easy though after a heartbreaking loss to LSU just a week ago.
With the Crimson Tide listed as double-digit favorites, it appears Kiffin is doing some extra preparation ahead of the matchup. On Tuesday, he showed off some hilarious reading material via Twitter.

Lane Kiffin Studies Nick Saban Ahead Of Alabama-Ole Miss Matchup
After blasting Aggies head coach Jimbo Fischer last week, Kiffin set his sights on Alabama head coach Nick Saban this week. He’s trying everything to gain an edge over his former boss and even grabbed a copy of John Talty’s book, The Leadership Secrets of Nick Saban.
Fans with a keener eye also noticed the Ole Miss head coach has been studying the Alabama defense in particular. You can see a sheet labeled “Alabama 2022 Defensive Call Sheet” underneath his book.
It’s possible that Kiffin is throwing shade at Saban’s comments from their matchup in 2020. The Rebels appeared to have an answer for everything Alabama did in the first half and Saban was visibly frustrated by it during an interview.
Despite an uncharacteristically down year for Alabama, their defense still ranks in the top 15 for yards allowed per game. So Kiffin is certainly wishing he had his opponent’s actual call sheet.
The Crimson Tide have won the last six meetings between the two teams with the Rebels’ last win coming in 2015. However, Saturday’s matchup is likely the best chance Ole Miss has had to win in quite some time.
We’ll see whether Kiffin’s extra preparation pays off.
