After missing out on the San Francisco 49ers’ first two games, all signs are finally pointing toward star tight end George Kittle making his season debut.

The Niners TE suffered a groin injury on September 5th just before the season started. It caused him to miss several days of practice and the team’s season opener against the Chicago Bears. While he saw some limited practice ahead of Week 2’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, a game-time decision ruled him out.

Kittle returned to practice this week and appears to have made significant progress in his recovery. Head coach Kyle Shanahan joined KBNR’s Murph & Mac Show on Friday and shared an outlook that 49ers fans are going to love.

“I’d be surprised if he doesn’t play. I mean we can’t say for sure yet, but he’s good in these two days of practice. Should be a good day and if you don’t have any setbacks, he should be playing.”

There are no guarantees but it appears fans can expect Kittle to suit up for the 49ers’ game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. It’s great news for the Niners and very bad news for other NFL defenses out there.

There are plenty around the league who already believe the 49ers are more dangerous with Jimmy Garoppolo taking over the starting QB duties. The return of George Kittle gives him a talented target that he’s quite familiar with.

The 49ers have already lost several key players to injuries. Trey Lance underwent season-ending surgery and Elijah Mitchell is dealing with a knee sprain. So Kittle’s update is some much-needed good news for the team.

If he can stay healthy for the remainder of the season, the 49ers will be a scary opponent to face.
